Ultrasonic Flow meter FAQs

Q: What to do if the ultrasonic flow meter cannot detect a signal?

A:

1. Verify if the pipeline parameters are correctly configured, ensure that the installation method is accurate, and check the connectivity of the connection wires. Confirm if the pipeline is adequately filled with fluid and free from any bubbles within the measured medium.

2. Ensure that the industrial clamp on ultrasonic flow meter sensor is installed at the distance specified by the flow meter’s display and that the sensor’s direction is correct.

3. Inspect the coupling sealants between the sensor and the pipe interface is sufficient.

Q: Under what circumstances should an insertion ultrasonic flow meter be selected?

A:

1. The pipe diameter is large(DN1000, DN2000…);

2. Tight lining on the internal of the pipe;

3. Severe internal scaling or fouling of the pipe;

4. Pipe material is a poor conductor for ultrasonic signals, such as cast iron or concrete pipes;

5. Signal strength or measurement stability cannot be achieved with an external clamp-on probe.

Q: After a period of use, it is possible for the signal of the ultrasonic

insertion sensor to decrease?

A: This may be due to sensor displacement or a buildup of scale on the sensor surface. In such cases, it is recommended to readjust the position of the sensor and clean the sensor’s transmitting surface.

Q: How to understand the protection level of ultrasonic flow meters?

A:

IP stands for ingress protection;

The first number 6 means: indicates the dust protection level. It is impermeable to dust and no dust enters;

The second number 5 means: protection against jetting water,

The second number 6 means: protection against strong jetting water,

The second number 7 means: protection against short-term immersion in water.

Q: How to determine the position of the probe after determining the installation distance?

A:

1. On a horizontal pipe, generally choose the middle of the pipe, avoiding the top and bottom (the top may contain bubbles and the bottom may have sediment);

2. V-method installation: first determine a point, and measure another point in the horizontal position according to the installation distance.

3. Z-method installation: first determine a point, measure another point in the horizontal position according to the installation distance, and then measure the symmetrical point of this point on the other side of the pipeline.

Q: Is high accuracy clamp on ultrasonic flow meter affected by the environment?

A: Temperature fluctuations: Large temperature fluctuations can cause changes in fluid density and speed of sound, which can lead to measurement errors.

Q: Is the ultrasonic flow meter accurate when there are air bubbles in the pipeline?

A: When there are air bubbles in the pipeline, the accuracy of clamp on ultrasonic flow meter for wastewater will be affected if the air bubbles affect the signal drop.
